My company moved this summer; transferring the furniture went smoothly, but the rest? No such luck. We sifted through decades of old paper files, crammed into musty, disintegrating paper boxes, and struggled through heaps of miscellaneous items that hardly seemed to belong anywhere. Nothing went according to plan. Storage boxes were labeled, but the black words had faded, and had been written over repeatedly. Loose supplies fit practically nowhere, and overflowed every crevice of our office. Our paper boxes were incredibly fragile, far more expensive than we’d anticipated—not only in retail price, but in the loss of time, files, and inventory. As I see it, the only good thing about paper boxes is their inherent recyclability.
Fortunately, I won’t be relocating any time soon, but if I did, I’d do it differently. I’d use Samani Bags—a significantly more durable, intuitively organizable, and downright handsome alternative. I’d switch to using Samani bags because my stuff is safe, sleek and stylish, and it doesn’t smell like my grandma’s closet. Guaranteed for up to 6000 moves, I’d much rather reduce and reuse than have to recycle my entire business.
